Harry’s Mother, the only comprehensive youth crisis center in the Portland metropolitan area, provides 24-hour crisis intervention, emergency shelter and individual and family counseling to youth ages 9 to 17 and their families.

A national “best practice” program, Harry’s Mother helps over 500 youth and their families through its Crisis Intervention and Counseling Center and confidential Garfield House Shelter

Outside In is a nonprofit organization that helps homeless youth and other marginalized people move towards improved health and self-sufficiency by providing social and medical services. Founded in 1968, Outside In has continually revised their services to meet changing client needs and provide individualized support for homeless youth. Their services include programs in housing, education, employment, counseling, medical care, healthy meals, recreation and art, and safety off the streets.

As a Federally Qualified Health Center, Outside In provides 20,000 medical visits each year to area homeless youth. Outside In’s medical clinic is a teaching site for medical students of Oregon Health Science University, Oregon College of Oriental Medicine, and the National College of Natural Medicine. 70% of Outside In’s clinical staff is bilingual and bicultural and a dedicated Spanish interpreter is always available.
