Operation Nightwatch is a non-sectarian night ministry of friendship and community that has been serving Portland’s street population since 1981.

Located at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, the Nightwatch Hospitality Center is a sanctuaryDowntown Hospitality Center for the lonely, mentally ill, homeless and impoverished in downtown Portland.

On Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m., it is open as a place where guests may drop in and socialize, play games, and develop friendships. On occasion, we’ll encourage interaction with Open Mic nights, chess or Scrabble tournaments, group games of Wheel of Fortune or Family Feud, or singing karaoke.

Registered nurses are on duty each evening we are open to provide foot care and attend to basic health needs our guests may present.

Outside In is a nonprofit organization that helps homeless youth and other marginalized people move towards improved health and self-sufficiency by providing social and medical services. Founded in 1968, Outside In has continually revised their services to meet changing client needs and provide individualized support for homeless youth. Their services include programs in housing, education, employment, counseling, medical care, healthy meals, recreation and art, and safety off the streets.

As a Federally Qualified Health Center, Outside In provides 20,000 medical visits each year to area homeless youth. Outside In’s medical clinic is a teaching site for medical students of Oregon Health Science University, Oregon College of Oriental Medicine, and the National College of Natural Medicine. 70% of Outside In’s clinical staff is bilingual and bicultural and a dedicated Spanish interpreter is always available.

Portland Homeless Family Solutions is a non-profit that runs two homeless shelters for families with children. The Goose Hollow Family Shelter serves as our night shelter while the Thirteen Salmon Family Center serves as our day shelter. Both shelters act as winter emergency shelters.

Families staying at the Shelter are provided a light breakfast, lunch, and an evening meal .They have access to a case worker, internet, showers, laundry facilities, sleeping areas (partitioned for families), and constructive activities for kids. We also maintain a pantry of personal toiletry items and a clothes closet of re-cycled clothing for shelter families.
